Welcome to 2014

Welcome to 2014, we hope you enjoy your time here!

We're busy dreaming up what this year will look like at Riverdale Homeopathy. Envisioning a year of service to our community, building our website to reach out across Canada, providing not just remedies and books, but a site for learning and a wealth of resources on homeopathy - we're only getting started in cyberspace.

We're also wondering what inspiring teachers you would like to see in person, and if you have any suggestions for how Riverdale Homeopathy can be of service to you. Get in touch and let us know!  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JF2DM85

For me the new year is a time to look back at the past 12 months and take stock of my achievements, adventures, as well as learning where there's room for improvement. So here's a quick look at 2013 through the eyes of Riverdale Homeopathy

2013 brought 2 new additions to our family. Nutritionist Kimi Sokhi started seeing clients out of our offices at Riverdale Homeopathy. She’s helping us build the truly holistic care we endeavour to provide to our patients. We also welcomed Ariane to our family. Ariane is a talented homeopathic student who’ve been a spectacular addition to our staff. As her growing belly indicates, Ariane will be away for much of 2014, we wish her all the joys of motherhood and few of the travails, and look forward to her return when she’s good and ready. Beginning next week we’re honored to welcome Aida Martinez back to the fold. Aida is a gifted naturopath and is now in her last year of naturopathic training. Aida worked with us several years ago before deciding to return back to school. We’re super excited to have her back!

Kate Birch

We kicked off 2013 with Kate Birch who came to teach us about treatments and prevention of infectious disease. We got such great reviews we're thinking of bringing her back.

February also brought Vega Rozenberg, a man who creates a stir wherever he goes. But people left so inspired that he is planning on returning to Toronto April 4th for a 5 day seminar. Vega teaches about the spiritual world through homeopathy - these seminars aren't just for homeopaths but for anyone on a quest for personal growth (how do you say that without sounding too flaky?)  Details to be announced, but save the date!

Patricia Hatherly

In May we welcomed Patricia Hatherly from Australia who shared her wisdom on lactation and lac remedies. This weekend was filled with practical information, and what remains clear in my mind is her clear insight into the differentiation between lac humanum and lac maternum.

David at HRI

At the end of May, David and Ananda traveled to Barcelona where we both had the opportunity to present our work to our colleagues at the first Homeopathic Research Institute Conference. David presented on his ongoing research into ADHD and Homeopathy, and presented a poster on cancer research. Ananda presented the rough cut of her film to a more diverse audience. We hobnobbed with homeopaths and scientists from all over the world. Were witness to conversations that sowed the seeds for future discoveries, met new friends, cemented old relationships and of course learned so much about new discoveries, new science, and prospective research and methodology.

Dr. Russell Malcolm presented to a sold out and eager audience. Expectations were high and this much-awaited seminar did not disappoint. Dr. Malcolm is in the unique position of having full access to information compiled on the bowel nosodes, along with years of clinical experience. He has a clear understanding of the bowel nosodes and has imparted this information in a methodical easy to understand format that has greatly enriched our practices. Another practical and effective tool available to homeopaths.

December was an especially significant month for RH. After 2 years of work our website finally launched. We still expect a few growing pains as everything settles into place and we get into the good habits of maintaining an active and healthy site. We envision our website as not only the best place to buy books and remedies online, but as a gathering place for the homeopathic community.  Especially in the emergent landscape of regulation in Ontario, warning labels on

nosodes in Canada, and the general stigmatization of homeopathy in mainstream media and by the well organized skeptic community, we want to help facilitate the of building a strong well organized and educated community.

To launch our website we introduced what I have dubbed as Keynote Evenings. Modeled after Ted Talks, these evenings provide a sounding board for our local homeopaths, a way to learn from our colleagues work, sustain each other, and build our community. In our first December event, 3 local homeopaths shared their knowledge with a small but packed and captivated audience. We engaged with our past and discussed how to be proactive in shaping our future through science, practice, advocacy and effective communication. If you would like to participate in a future event please contact Ananda.

As for 2014 – we can only imagine! This will be a very busy year, with proclamation of the profession in Ontario, David’s continued research, Ananda’s documentary, further development of the website and programs at Riverdale, we’re jumping in and excited about the possibilities. We hope you’ll join us!
